History of Prevention Makes Cents

Prevention Makes Cents was formed as a non-profit corporation in June 2009 to continue the important work of bringing child assault prevention programming to area preschool and elementary schools as well as continuing parent education and support programming. Prevention Makes Cents is ICAP’s NH Regional Training Center and has been offering child assault prevention education since 1991. Prevention Makes Cents is a collaborative member of the newly formed Family Resource Center of Greater Nashua, assisting in offering support programs to parents who reside in Hillsborough County. The Parent Information Center (PIC) in Concord is the fiscal sponsor for Prevention Makes Cents. PIC is a state-wide organization and has been providing parent advocacy education and training in the special education process for three decades. In 1995, PIC expanded its programming assist families and schools to increase parental involvement in education with the goal of increasing student academic progress. www.picnh.org



Our Staff

Lori Fowler, Director, brings over 30 years experience working with children, parents and families. Lori has been named the state-wide director of International Center for Assault Prevention's (ICAP) NH Regional Training Center and has been working since 1991 to bring personal safety education to preschool and elementary school children and their families.

Lori Fowler is a certified facilitator in Parenting Journey, Active Parenting, Zero to Three Curriculum and the Nurturing Parenting Programs.


Maura McGowan, Coordinator, brings close to 10 years of experience working with children, parents and families. Maura is an engaging trainer and certified to train others in the Child Assault Prevention (CAP) program and has completed the training programs for Active Parenting and Parenting Journey.  Maura has the ability to work with preschool children and teens alike with the same respect for who they are as individuals.
